Home Court is a collection of black and white images depicting homemade basketball hoops and backboards. The variations of this simple concept are as pure, surprising, and endearing as the game itself. Simply put, the coffee table book expresses the will, appreciation, and ingenuity that people call on to play basketball, the game they love. Home Court is made of recycled products blending with many of the photographs that used recycled items to make hoops and backboards such as old milk crates, buckets, and baskets. Recycled chipboard covers the book, as well as uncoated stock and soy-based ink were used. A portion of the book’s proceeds will benefit the YMCA, the birthplace of basketball |

In Home Court, professional photographer Bob Redding captures two of the most important aspects of the sport of basketball – simplicity & accessibility. The book contains 102 duotone images of outdoor handmade baskets and backboards. Redding’s photographs are beautifully executed, relying on the graphic form for each hoop coupled with the environment they exist in. Many of the images conjure up familiar, vivid memories and evoke heart-felt emotion from basketball lovers of all ages. |

Tell us about your basketball memory and submit photos of your homemade basket or goal … or both. Home Court II is looking for entries to be included in a second edition filled with personal memories and images from you, our readers and fellow basketball lovers. “I started playing at the age of eight. My father and I hung up a hoop with backboard on the only place that would support it … a big tree in our back yard! I often wonder if that hoop is still there.” James, Houston, Texas |
